Brief Introduction

Because the humanities, social sciences and information technology form the foundation of modern higher education, Chia Nan University, in accordance with its long-term plan, decided as of August 1st 2013 to amalgamate the College of Humanities and Social Sciences with the College of Health and Information, forming a new College of Humanities and Applied Information. The College is comprised of one graduate institute and four departments: the Graduate Institute of Confucianism, the Department of Social Work, the Department of Applied Foreign Languages, the Department of Information Management and the Department of Applied Informatics and Multimedia.

The College of Humanities and Applied Information takes Chia Nan University’s school motto of “truth” and the blueprint for development as its guiding principles, to be implemented through the College’s own core objectives of cultivating concern for society, language ability, practical information technology ability and game animation ability. Through the integration of teaching, research and service, the College aims to cultivate talented professionals for the health service and applied information industries.

The College’s specific development objectives are as follows:
1. Closely monitor developments in industry and future employment trends, to ensure that we cultivate entry and middle-level personnel in social service and applied information with skills that are in alignment with the needs of industry.
2. Implement a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice. Fully develop the specialist features of each department, in order to enable teaching and research to closely adhere to the pulse of industry.
3. Integrate resources available through government departments, industry, and the school itself, to establish effective training mechanisms for industry.
